2020 Tracks
Population ageing is occurring worldwide, and the issue, along with lengthening lifespans, has received a great deal of attention within the economic literature. Long term care, solitary elders, economic security, social participation and security policy are all affected by access to resources across the lifespan.
Factors known to encourage social participation among older people, such as health and transportation, should be promoted through education, support groups and community programmes. As human beings live longer, many people have chosen a LOHAS lifestyle. LOHAS types perceive the connection between physical and mental health, take a strong interest in personal development, and care about human rights, fair trade, sustainable practices and life balance. This group has led society to a new stage.
With such diverse social issues in view, the 2020 Pro Aging and LOHAS conference invited delegates to discuss interdisciplinary research and practices in the fields of sociology, social sciences and the humanities. The World Health Organization frames the same shift as a global public health priority.

How the tracks connect
Education and psychology run through most of the tracks. Teaching and learning shape the experience of later life, and psychological research explains how memory, motivation and well being change with age. The keynote address from Dr. Afshin Gharib speaks directly to these questions.
Social work and policy tracks deal with care, income security and participation. Together they define the practical side of the conference and inform the submission themes that authors are invited to address.
