Afshin Gharib is a professor of psychology at Dominican University of California. His research interests include learning, memory and ageing, the effects of humane education, and the factors that influence student learning.
He received his undergraduate degree in psychology from Brown University and his doctorate in psychology from the University of California, Berkeley.
His keynote address compares closed book, open book and crib sheet examinations. The talk asks how the format of an assessment shapes what students remember, and it connects directly to the education and psychology tracks of the conference.
